The Massachusetts Drought Management Task Force says most of the state has been downgraded to mild drought conditions, however Cape Cod and the northeast remain in a significant drought.
Officials say over the past six months, precipitation in the Cape and Islands regions have been 40-percent below average.
During significant drought conditions, residents and businesses are urged to be mindful of indoor water use and minimize it if possible.
In addition, leaks from sinks, toilets, faucets and showers should be fixed to reduce wasting water.
