Cape Senator Working To Keep Mental Health Facility Open

State Senator Dylan Fernandes says he's working to keep the Pocasset Mental Health Center from being closed by the state.

Fernandes is drafting an amendment that would reverse the closure of the facility as proposed in Governor Maura Healey's budget.

Fernandes says there are only 20 inpatient mental health beds at Cape Cod Hospital, and the closure of Pocasset would leave a shortage of beds in the region.

The facility currently is funded through the fiscal year that ends June 30th.
