Several Cape communities will benefit from the more than 12-million-dollars in state and federal road safety grants.
The governor's office says the funds will be used for a combination of prevention, enforcement, education and outreach initiatives to ensure safer roads.
On the Cape, Barnstable will receive 60-thousand dollars, Bourne will get close to 40-thousand dollars, Eastham will receive just over 91-hundred dollars, Falmouth will be awarded 40-thousand dollars and Harwich will get nearly 30-thousand dollars.
Officials say the funding from the Municipal Road Safety Grant Program will be used update or maintain safe roads and traffic safety initiatives.
