At Fenway-- Finally Play Ball

The Boston Red Sox will be marking the 20th anniversary of the curse-ending 2004 championship team at today's home opener against the Baltimore Orioles.

The 2004 Sox won the World Series for the first time since 1918. Legend goes, the team suffered for all those years from the "curse of the Bambino," resulting in a decades-long championship drought said to have been sparked by Boston's controversial deal to send Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees.

The Red Sox will also honor Stacey and Tim Wakefield. The Red Sox pitcher and his wife each died of cancer months apart.

The Sox have played ten previous games on the road and have a record of 7 and 3.
