Cape Residents Prepare For Hurricane Lee Potential

While many boat owners are battening down the hatches in preparation for the potential effects of Hurricane Lee, property owners are being encouraged to do the same.

You have a couple of days to secure lawn furniture and other loose items around the yard that could easily blow away.

The National Weather Service is calling for winds to pick up significantly during the day on Friday and warning of possible tropical storm conditions Friday night into Saturday night.

Officials say it's a good idea to be ready for power outages, too.

Meantime, the Steamship Authority is waiving change and cancellation fees with foul conditions in the forecast for the weekend.

The Authority says anyone who booked trips on Friday, Saturday or Sunday won't have to pay for changes since Hurricane Lee is throwing a wrench in everyone's plans.

Folks are also being advised of possible service disruptions, especially on the Nantucket route, from late Friday into Sunday morning.
