State, Local Emergency Experts Say They Are Ready If Needed

More than 200 people have completed Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency first ever Hurricane Preparedness Symposium.

It was held at Mass Maritime Academy this week.

The contingent- from across the state discussed the State’s readiness as well as the readiness of local communities to deal with hurricanes, tropical storms and other weather-related events.

“Massachusetts’ Statewide Hurricane Symposium illustrates our commitment to engage partners in the shared goals of preparedness, mutual aid, and sustainable recovery,” said Governor Maura Healey. “In the last few weeks alone, the floods affecting Massachusetts families, businesses, and communities have renewed our local and state emergency management leaders’ urgency around these topics. We commend each of them for the work they do to keep our residents safe.”

We are in the middle of the current Atlantic Hurricane season. It runs from June 1 through November 1.

The last Tropical Storm that we experienced was back in August of 2021.
