Early Morning Freight Arrivals Approved

The Steamship Authority board of governors is approving 5:30 a.m. summer freight boats from Woods Hole in 2024.

The board voted 3-to-1 in favor of the schedule at a meeting on Tuesday.

Falmouth representative Peter Jeffrey was the lone dissenting vote.

Residents who live near the Falmouth terminal have maintained longstanding complaints about the noise caused by the ships, but Martha's Vineyard officials have countered that the early-morning runs are vital to their economy.
