Homelessness Increases On Cape And Islands

The findings from the 2022 Annual Point in Time Count are in.

The Cape and Islands Regional Network on Homelessness counted 397 homeless people in the region - up 54 from last year and the highest number of homeless people accounted for in 8 years.

Most of the homeless in the area are adults, with 92 being children. Homeless individuals on the Cape and Islands is also much more prevalent among men, with 128 counted in total compared to 80 women.

The network says the uptick may be attributed to the expansion of survey efforts on Martha’s Vineyard.
