Cape Lawmakers Criticized For Vineyard Moped Death

Criticism is being directed at Cape and Islands lawmakers following a fatal moped crash this past weekend on Martha’s Vineyard.

Activists have long-sought to ban business from renting the vehicles on the Vineyard, citing the danger they present.

A town meeting in Oak Bluffs approved a ban in 2018, which would have impacted several rental businesses in town, but state representative Dylan Fernandes tells the MV Times the home-rule petition did not make it past a legislative committee and died with the end of the session.
