Orange Coast College Plays First Game Without John Altobelli

The Orange Coast College Baseball team had its opening day, for the first time in years without their coach John Altobelli.

He died, along with his wife and daughter in the helicopter crash that claimed the life of Kobe Bryant.

Altobelli coached for several seasons in the Cape Cod League.

Nate Johnson is the interim coach.

During ceremonies this week he told fans that Altobelli was always the first one at the diamond for opening day...and today he was. And he wished that he wasn't.

Orange Coast lost the game to Southwestern 7-6.
