A half dozen area schools will be sharing $270,000 in state grant money to fortify schools. Barnstable High, Dennis Yarmouth Regional Schools, Martha’s Vineyard Regional, Nantucket Schools, Monomoy and Edgartown will use the money to replace security doors, install video surveillance to harden schools, considered soft targets. State Rep Tim Whelan of Brewster says he is thankful that the state money has come through.
