Massachusetts Assault Weapons Ban Upheld

A federal appeals court is upholding a Massachusetts ban on assault weapons.

In 2016, Attorney General Maura Healey notified gun manufacturers that so-called copycat assault weapons would be prohibited.

The ban was challenged by the Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts and some state legislators. The attorney general says the First Circuit Court of Appeals ruling is a defeat for the gun lobby and a victory for families.
