Mitchell River Drawbridge In Chatham Closing For Repairs

New Chatham Drawbridge Closed Again For Repairs

3/27/19

Major repairs are starting on a drawbridge in Chatham.

The Cape Cod Chronicle reports the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has informed town officials that contract work for the Mitchell River Drawbridge will start next Monday.

Officials say it could take two months to complete.

Bridge Street will be closed to traffic while the project is ongoing.

A contractor has had to address what Massdot acknowledges are design problems several times since the 14-million-dollar structure was opened in 2016.
