Construction Worker Injured in Wellfleet

A construction worker from Cape Cod is in a Boston hospital following a construction accident Thursday morning.

According to a news release from Wellfleet Fire Department Chief, Richard Pauley, Jr, his department was alerted to the accident shortly after 8 a.m. A man was trapped under a steel I-beam on Josem's Way, just off of Route 6 in Wellfleet. Arriving first responders found a 46-year old male who was assisting with the transfer of several steel I-beams from a flat-bed trailer when he was accidentally struck by one and wedged for a brief period. Although the victim was conscious and alert, due to the nature of his injuries - possibly significant internal injury - he was taken by a Wellfleet Fire Department ambulance to Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis where a Med Flight helicopter brought him to Massachusetts General Hospital.
