COMM/Unresponsive Person

3/7/19

Rescuers from the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Department responded to a call from the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Centerville this morning (Thursday) for a report of an unresponsive person.

Barnstable Police Sgt. Eric Driftmyeyer tells WXTK news that a technician with the company that installed the H-VAC system in the new MSPCA facility was apparently working on the system when he became exposed to an unknown chemical. The individual, from Dennis, reportedly called a co-worker to say he had been exposed, but quickly became unconscious.

MSPCA employees found the unresponsive man and began administering CPR until rescuers arrived and took the unidentified worker to Cape Cod Hospital on Advanced Life Support.

There is no word at this time on his condition.

The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department, Town of Barnstable Inspectors and the Mass Department of Fire Services’ Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors are investigating the incident.
