Martha's Vineyard Museum Leaves Edgartown

With the exception of the historic Thomas Cooke House, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum has sold its remaining property in Edgartown.

The Vineyard Gazette reports the sale of a parcel of land at 59 School Street that was divided into a pair of quarter-acre lots has been completed for $4 million.

The sale is one of the final pieces of a 7-year, $31 million project to turn the former marine hospital in Vineyard Haven into the permanent home of the Martha’s Vineyard Museum.

A soft opening is scheduled for January 17 at the Vineyard Haven facility.

After nearly a century at the Edgartown location, the museum formally vacated the property on December 3rd.
