The Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works’ Water Supply Division will be starting a water works construction project immediately after Labor day that will improve the water quality and fire flows for customers of the Hyannis Water System in the Main Street area.
This project will clean and line about 1,700 feet of 12-inch water main on Main Street from the Barnstable Road intersection to School Street. Included in the project are the replacement of valves, fire hydrants and customer water services up to the property line. A temporary water bypass system will be installed to maintain a continuous supply of water during this project. The major work is anticipated to be done this fall and final paving to be completed in the spring of 2019.
