Self-Serve Regular Unleaded Down a Penny This Week

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.

This week’s survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.83 per gallon. AAA says that’s two cents lower than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.85. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 54 cents lower at $2.29.

“Both locally and nationally, prices have been relatively flat over the last few weeks, suggesting that U.S. gasoline supply and demand are balancing,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “AAA will be watching to see if spikes in demand happen closer to Labor Day as motorists squeeze in those final road trips.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 36 cents, from a low of $2.69 to a high of $3.05.
