North Beach in Chatham Opens to OSVs

The Town of Chatham Department of Natural Resources says North Beach, a.k.a. Nauset Beach/Nauset Beach South, is now open to Oversand Vehicles or OSVs. The beach opened at 10 a.m. Sunday morning. The last Piping Plover chicks have fledged (i.e. are capable of flight), and access to the beach will be in compliance with State Guidelines for Least Terns.

All dogs on North Beach must be kept on a leash no longer than 30 feet at all times. If dogs are observed outside of the designated areas or off leash, then the permit holder will be subject to sticker revocation. This is a zero tolerance policy. If any violations regarding dogs are observed, then Management will be forced to implement a temporary "no dog’s policy" due to the presence of shorebirds in closed areas.
