The Steamship Authority’s five-member Board, with input from its Port Council, has selected an outside consulting firm to review its daily operations.
HMS Consulting and Technical, LLC emerged as the first-ranked finalist from the eight firms that were seeking to land the job of conducting a comprehensive review of the SSA’s operations.
HMS Consulting and Technical has proposed to conduct a thorough review of the SSA’s operations for a little more than $217,000. KPFF Consulting Engineers, the second-ranked finalist, said it could get the job done for $556,000.
The SSA’s staff entered into contract negotiations with HMS Consulting and Technical in accordance with the Board’s vote. Once the contract is finalized, HMS expects the analysis can be completed in three months.
