Nero Cleared for Normal Activity

Retired Yarmouth Police K9 Officer Peter McClelland says K9 Nero has been cleared by vets to resume normal activity.

In a post on his Facebook page, McClelland says the Belgian Malinois was cleared by the veterinarians who saved his life at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Bourne.

Nero was K9 Sgt. Sean Gannon’s partner. The two were shot April 12th  in Marstons Mills while attempting to serve an arrest warrant. The shooting claimed Gannon’s life.

It remains to be seen if Nero will continue to serve as a K9 in the Yarmouth Police Department.

In his Facebook post, McClelland said, “This tragic event brought together so many people to support Nero and the whole Yarmouth Police community. CCVS will forever be part of YPD especially the K-9 unit. I will always carry the love in my heart given to me and Nero. The bond created will never be forgotten.”
