SSA Hires Communications Director

The Steamship Authority has hired a new Communications Director.

SSA General Manager, Robert Davis, has announced that Cape Cod Times reporter Sean Driscoll was selected to fill the position that was created to ensure the ferry service has an integrated internal and external communications program.

Davis says Driscoll emerged from dozens of applicants and interviews to land the job which he will start on June 25.

“We had a number of great applicants. However, Sean stood out and, since he has covered the Steamship Authority for the past five years, he already has a strong working knowledge of our operations and the projects we now have underway.” Davis said.

“This position was created months ago as a way to improve communications both, internally and to island residents, neighboring communities, and our passengers. His experience and overall abilities will prove to be a valuable asset to our team.” Davis said.

Driscoll is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a certificate in journalism. For the past five years, he has worked at the Cape Cod Times as a reporter and editor. Before joining the Times, Driscoll worked as a reporter at several other regional newspapers in the Midwest.

“I am excited to join the Steamship Authority as its new Communications Director,” Driscoll said. “I know the importance the ferry line has to the communities it serves, and I look forward to working to improve communications with customers and residents alike.”
