Keating Reintroduces Nuclear Decommissioning Bill

9TH District Congressman Bill Keating has re-introduced the Nuclear Plant Decomissioning Act of 2018.

That piece of legislation requires a nuclear plant operator to consult with state and local communities when drafting plans to govern the shutdown of a reactor and eventual transfer of a plant’s federal license. Keating re-introduced the legislation with Representative Peter Welch of Vermont.

The Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth is scheduled for shutdown in 2019. Keating says the bill would have a direct effect on the plant’s decommissioning process.
