Gun Lock Giveaway Thursday at YPD Headquarters

“Grandmothers Against Gun Violence” has teamed up with Yarmouth Police and other Cape Cod police departments, to offer free locks to gun owners in an effort to prevent accidental death or injury from unsecured firearms.

Tomorrow, November 30th, the YPD will distribute the free gun locks between 3 and 6 p.m.

They will also hold a raffle for a 400-dollar gun storage box.

Yarmouth Deputy Police Chief, Steven Xiahros, says to prevent accidental shootings, you should make sure a gun is not loaded, use a lock on all weapons, and store guns in a locked cabinet.

Ammunition should be locked in a place separate from the gun and unless the firearm is in your direct possession, it should be locked up and secure at all times.
