MV Reg H.S. Pulls Plug on Football Season

Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School has a numbers problem and it will mean a premature end to the school’s football season.

The Vineyarders will play Greater New Bedford this week, but not their final two contests, wich includes the annual Island Cup against Nantucket. Martha's Vineyard is 1-7 and ironically the only win came via forfeit against Atlantis Charter, a first-year program.

School Athletic Director Mark McCarthy says there just aren’t enough students to safely field a football team.
