Beacon Hill Pumps $5.3M Into Cape Tech Proposal

The Massachusetts State Senate on Thursday voted on a supplemental budget to close out Fiscal Year 2017. That supplemental budget includes language to increase the state’s contribution to the building of a new Cape Cod Regional Technical High School by $5.3 million.

State Senator Julian Cyr advocated the inclusion of the language and funds in the Senate while State Representative Sarah Peake of Provincetown secured identical language in the supplemental budget passed Thursday by the House. The measure now goes  to Governor Charlie Baker for his signature.

The additional contribution from the state will save Cape Cod taxpayers nearly $10 million when taking into account the interest that would accrue to the towns located in the Cape Tech Regional District.
