NWS: High Surf Advisory for Cape, Islands

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for tonight through Wednesday for the Cape, Islands, and Block Island. High surf and dangerous rip currents are forecast.

A tropical storm making its way up the East Coast appears likely to strike a glancing blow to Southeastern New England, including the Cape and Islands. The National Weather Service says the worst-case scenario will be heavy rain and winds gusting to 50 mph. It is predicted that the southeastern coast of Nantucket will be hit the hardest.

The high surf advisory takes effect at 8 p.m. tonight and will be in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
