Getting a New Look at the Ocean Floor

The Advanced Imaging and Visualization Laboratory at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, in collaboration with Marine Imaging Technologies, has developed a revolutionary multi-function, underwater imaging system capable of generating ultra-high definition television video as well as 2D mosaic imaging and 3D optical models of objects and environments on the seafloor.

The new state-of-the-art technology is currently being field-tested on several submerged shipwreck sites in both the U.S. and Europe.

You can see the full video of the new imaging system here.
