Two Pedestrians Struck, Killed in Sandwich

Sandwich Police responded Monday afternoon to a report of two pedestrians struck by a mini-van on route 6-A in the vicinity of merchant square.

Arriving at the scene around 1:45 p.m., police found that two women, ages 88 and 70, had been a the crosswalk when hit by a mini-van driven by a 54-year old male from Foxborough.

The women were taken to Cape Cod Hospital where both died from their injuries. The driver of the vehicle was taken to Tobey Hospital for evaluation.

Barnstable County’s crime scene unit and the Massachusetts State Police crash reconstruction team responded to the incident.

The names of the victims have not been released pending notification to family members.

The incident is under investigation.
