School Bus-Car Accident Injures Five Students

An accident Wednesday morning in Yarmouth between a school bus and a car resulted in injury to several students.

That accident happened at the intersection of Regional Ave and Station Ave near Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

The bus was carrying 15 students heading to the Cape Cod Regional Technical School in Harwich. The other vehicle was a Jeep Liberty with four students headed to D-Y Regional.

Yarmouth Police officer Jeffrey Rivett [[RIV-et]] conducted the investigation on the scene and concluded the 17-year old junior operator of the Jeep pulled in front of the bus after stopping at the intersection. The operator had an active junior operator’s license but no one else in the Jeep was of the proper legal age. He was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle in Violation of License Restriction.

There were no serious injuries although all four people in the Jeep and one person on the school bus were taken to Cape Cod Hospital by the Yarmouth Fire Department as a precaution.
