$1B Saved For College Education

Massachusetts families are hitting a major milestone in saving for their children's education.

State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg says BabySteps accounts have now reached one-billion dollars in total savings.

The program provides families with a 50-dollar seed deposit when they open a 529 college savings account within a year of a child's birth or adoption.

The money can be used for a range of education costs, including college, community college, vocational training, and certain apprenticeship programs.
