A bill to allow bars and restaurants in Rhode Island to stay open later during World Cup matches is now in the state Senate.
Passed by the House, it would allow places to stay open until four a.m. with liquor service until three a.m.
Gillette Stadium in nearby Foxboro, Massachusetts, will host seven World Cup matches.
Those matches are projected to generate over 330-million-dollars in economic impact for Rhode Island, attracting nearly one-million visitors to the Providence area.
