State Representative Steve Xiarhos joined MassDOT, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, and other officials Tuesday as test borings began at the Sagamore Bridge.
Xiarhos says over the next few months there will be activity in the old Christmas Tree Shop parking lot and in a wooded area along the roadway on the mainland side of the bridge.
He says crews are driving deep piles and drilling shafts to get the data engineers need to design the foundation the right way and once that's done, they'll build on top of those areas to test what's underneath.
