The Town of Chatham has been made aware of a new phishing scam that uses an "@usa.com" email address.
The scammers are posing as a Town Department, and they are contacting the public to solicit large amounts of money for application fees.
Officials say no town, city, state, or federal government agencies will use an "@usa.com" address.
In addition, the Town of Chatham says it will never solicit fee payments from the public through email.
