Orleans Police Warn Residents About New Scam

Orleans Police say there's a new scam making the rounds.

This time the scammers are contacting residents by phone and email, claiming to be from the Federal Trade Commission.

The scammers tell their potential victims there has been suspicious activity tied to their identification and their bank account is at risk or their Social Security number has been compromised.

The scammers are spoofing government phone numbers and providing bogus ID that appears to be real.

Police say the FTC doesn't have special agents, and they do not call people to ask for money or personal information.
