Dog Rescued From 12-Foot Sinkhole In Falmouth

An eleven-year-old yellow lab has been reunited with her owner after falling into a 12-foot sinkhole.

The Barnstable County Tech Rescue Team responded to a home on Jones Road in Falmouth shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday where they found a two-foot shaft had opened.

"The two-foot-wide shaft opened into a large, undermined area caused by hidden water drainage. Due to the high risk of collapse and the dangers of the confined space, the Barnstable County Technical Rescue Team was called in to assist," according to a statement.

It was too dangerous for crews to enter the hole, so they used tactical adjustments and pepperoni to pull the pup to safety at around 5 p.m.

Tessa was not injured.
