Flu And Respiratory Illness Rates Remain High

The Barnstable County Department of Health and the Environment says flu activity remains at very high levels and residents should take measures to protect themselves.

Health officials say the dominant strain is influenza A, which emerged four months after this season's flu vaccine was developed.

While this year's flu vaccine isn't a perfect match to completely prevent illnesses, it still offers protection.

COVID activity is also increasing, but RSV levels are low. Vaccines, masking, social distancing, hand washing and staying home when sick add layers of protection against the viruses.
