The Town of Brewster will be enacting mandatory outdoor watering restrictions due to the state of the aquifer and the ongoing drought conditions.
Starting this Thursday, there will be an alternating odd-even watering schedule.
Properties with odd number street addresses may water on odd number calendar days and properties with even number addresses may water on even number calendar days.
During the restriction period, outdoor watering may only take place from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. and from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Properties serviced by private wells are exempt from the restrictions, but the Town encourages their participation because of their impact on the shared aquifer.
Several other exemptions from these restrictions also exist.
