Beginning today Chatham's Fire and EMS dispatching services are transitioning to the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications Center.
Officials say the change will streamline operations, improve response times for area emergencies and provide more efficient service to the community.
The Chatham Fire Department says the change will not affect response times and 911 should always be called in an emergency.
