Steamship Authority Workers Want Fair Contract Now

The union representing employees at the Steamship Authority claims there are issues with staffing levels and working conditions.

Teamsters local 59 said captains and pilots are required to work 18 hours in a 24 hour period.

The union calls that a quote "serious threat to workers and passengers."

Steamship Authority operates ferry service to and from Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket

The employees contract expires next month and the union is urging the company to negotiate a fair deal.
