Verizon Pushes Cape Plan For Fiber Optics

The Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates is expected to consider a request from Verizon for a letter of support for its plan to install high-speed, fiber-optic networks on The Cape.

Applications from the company are due in the hands of federal officials December 11- and must include a letter of support from the local governing body.

The company is not identifying publicly yet the 15 communities that would benefit from the project.

Officials do say that the project would entail some 20 million dollars in federal funding that it would match with a similar amount.
