Wellfleet Group Seeks to Purchase Shark Warning Buoys

A Cape Cod organization has set its sights on detecting great white sharks in the waters off Cape Cod.

Cape Cod Ocean Community in Wellfleet has started a GoFundMe campaign to buy two buoys equipped with sonar that would detect shark movements and send an alert to lifeguards and beachgoers.

The Arthur Clever Buoy Pilot is named after Arthur Medici, the 26-year old from Revere who became the first person in more than 80 years in Massachusetts to be killed in a shark attack last September in Wellfleet.
