Keating Co-Sponsors Green New Deal Resolution

9th District Congressman William Keating news release:

Washington, DC– Today, Congressman Bill Keating was proud to stand with colleagues in the House and Senateas an original cosponsor of the Green New Deal Resolution.

Said Congressman Keating:

“I am proud to be an original cosponsor of the Green New Deal Resolution led in the House by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and in the Senate by our own Sen. Markey.

“The time to act on the climate crisis is so long overdue. Communities like ours, that are predominately coastal, have seen the signs of what is to come if we don’t address this emergency.

“We know that the climate crisis is not just a national issue but a global challenge that must be addressed. The Trump Administration, with its withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord among many other actions, has made it clear they do not intend to do that. That is why I fought hard to have the Subcommittee I will chair on the Foreign Affairs Committee include energy and environment in its jurisdiction. My role as Chairman of that Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, Energy, and the Environment will be to work with our foreign colleagues and in conjunction with efforts on the national level to reestablish America’s position as a leader on both climate change and renewable energy.”

“We are delighted to see that Congressman Keating has signed on to become an original co-sponsor of the Green New Deal,” said Rosemary Carey of Falmouth, an organizer with 350MA Cape Cod. “We expect he will continue to be the bold climate leader that he has been and will help this resolution become a bill and bring the climate change solutions we need at the scale that we need them.”
