Woman's Body Pulled from Waters off Kalmus Beach

Hyannis rescue personnel pulled an elderly woman's body from the water's off Kalmus Beach on Tuesday morning. The woman was not conscious or breathing and is believed to have been in the water for some time.

A blue coat and white shoes believed to belong to the woman were found near shore close to the jetty. A birdwatcher noticed the body in the water and notified Barnstable Police.

Barnstable Police Sgt. Eric Drifmeyer tells WXTK News the woman, believed to be in her 60s, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital and the case was then turned over to the Mass State Police.

Assistant Cape and Islands District Attorney, Tara Miltimore, says the investigation is being handled by State Police, Barnstable Police, and the D.A.'s office.

Foul play is not suspected.
