The two people struck and killed Saturday by a train in Wareham have been identified.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz’s office released the identity of the two on Monday.
33-year old Melissa Gaudette and 36-year old Edwin Benitez-Figueroa, both of Wareham, were hit by a Cape Cod Central Railroad train just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The two were on the tracks at the time they were struck. Both were declared dead at the scene. Cruz’s office is investigating the deaths.
The “Train to Christmas Town” had more than 300 people on board, most of them children. No one on the train was injured.
