Update from Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee:
Forecast/status update: 24 hour storm. Low pressure in SE will move up the coast tonight. Pass SE and E of benchmark position (SE of Nantucket). Will intensify rapidly and become an intense storm. 9:30-10:00 pm precipitation begins; may begin as rain, but change to snow by midnight. Wet snow. Blizzard warning goes into effect at 11:00 pm. Expected to move out of our area Tuesday evening.
Wind: Northerly 65-70 mph gusts.
Snow: Heavy during morning tomorrow with some 1-3"/hr snowfall rates possible in heavy bands. Winding down Tuesday evening, but may linger on the Cape into the midnight hours. Upper Cape: 12-14", Mid-Cape: 8-12", Outer/Lower Cape: Lesser amounts 4-8", PTown may have higher amounts similar to Upper Cape
Temps: No flash freeze or bitter temps predicted during or following storm
Flooding: Minor coastal possible on Tuesday, in typical vulnerable areas
Sheltering: No shelter openings planned
Eversource: Declared Level 4. EOC will be open (time tbd). Prepositioning crews on Cape
MACC: 0600 Tuesday for one operational period
MEMA: Opening State and Region 2 EOCs at 0500 on Tuesday
