Gasoline prices tick upward in Bay State

The price of regular unleaded gasoline in Massachusetts is up from a week ago.

AAA-Northeast found in its weekly survey that self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.47 per gallon, an increase of two cents from last week’s average price.

AAA says the Massachusetts price is six cents below the national average but 34 cents higher than the in-state price one year ago.

AAA’s Director of Public and Legislative Affairs, Mary Maguire, says high demand and falling supply levels are keeping prices from dropping quickly following the post-hurricane spikes.

AAA found a range in the price of self-service unleaded regular of 35 cents, from a low of $2.29 to a high of $2.64.
