JFK Hyannis Museum Receives $25K Grant from BofA

The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum has announced a $25,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to help bolster the museum’s educational programs.

“We are extremely grateful Bank of America chose to invest in our efforts to enhance our focus on fostering civic engagement and increase our educational offerings for students across Cape Cod,” said JFK Hyannis Museum Executive Director John Allen.

“The funds will be used to deepen the impact of our expanding curriculum across the region,” Allen said, adding that a portion of the grant money is dedicated to helping to fund school transportation costs to and from the museum.

Educational programs at the JFK Hyannis Museum will focus on elements of civics education and the implementation of seven STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lessons related to President Kennedy’s legacy, primarily in the areas of space exploration, the establishment of the National Seashore, and fitness initiatives.

Officials with the museum are also putting together a civics lesson plan entitled "Making Your Voices Heard," to help students become more active and involved in civic life in ways that can inspire others.

“We are always looking for fresh ways to engage young people to help prepare them to make history themselves. This grant from Bank of America will help us do that,” Allen said.
