The case of an alligator carcass that was found on a walking trail on Martha's Vineyard has been closed.
The four foot long alligator carcass was located in May by someone walking on a conservation trail in West Tisbury.
State environmental officials say the skin had been removed from all of the alligator except the head and feet.
The alligator also appeared to have a single gunshot wound to the top of the head.
