Sandwich leaders are really down in the dumps over the failure of a plan to head-off erosion at Town Neck Beach.
A ten-million-dollar beach nourishment effort was just completed in January by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that was supposed to last five to seven years.
About a half-million tons of sand was deposited along the shore as a potential solution to erosion, but despite no big storms, 15 to 20 feet worth of sand has already washed away, leaving behind six-foot cliffs for long stretches.
A public meeting to discuss solutions to the issue is being held at 7:00 tonight at Cafe Chew by the Trustees of Sandwich Beaches.
